SaaS, cloud computing 'should be considered for data backup'
Date: Thursday 23rd April 2009

Businesses may benefit from using software-as-a-service (SaaS) or cloud computing technologies to back up important data, an expert has said.
According to Get Safe Online managing director Tony Neate, the fact that businesses are increasingly relying on the web means such methods of data backup are now becoming more viable.
This could be particularly true for growing organisations, he suggested.
"The bigger you get you need to start looking at the security not just IT as a singular, individual item, but the security part of it as well, because it is vital," Mr Neate remarked.
According to Econsultancy, 57 per cent of UK firms use SaaS for file and assets storage. A further 77 per cent of companies also harness the technology for
web hosting purposes.
Get Safe Online initiative is the UK's national online security awareness campaign and is a joint partnership between the government, the Serious Organised Crime Agency, Ofcom and private sector sponsors.
