Red Hat launches Enterprise Linux 5.3

Red Hat has announced the full launch of its Enterprise Linux 5.3 operating system for businesses.
The new release includes features such as increased scalability for virtualisation, enhanced hardware platform support and the inclusion of OpenJDK Java technologies.
Virtual private servers can be supported with up to 32 virtual CPUs and 80GB of memory, while physical server limits have also been increased to 126 CPUs and 1TB of main memory.
Support for Intel Core i7 - Nehalem - processors has been added to the operating system, while the incorporation of OpenJDK Java means it works with all applications created for Java SE 6 and previous versions.
"With Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3, Red Hat has once again delivered a rich set of features, developed through rapid innovation with the open source community, that can increase the capability and drive down the cost of customers' IT," commented Scott Crenshaw of Red Hat.
Red Hat was established in 1993 and also offers middleware, training, support and consultancy services.
