Date: Wednesday 5th August 2009
New research has revealed that IT executives are becoming more positive about the potential of cloud computing, with over a quarter of those questioned planning to deploy private clouds.
The study by Platform Computing also highlighted that 41 per cent of IT bosses questioned think energy efficiency is the best feature of cloud computing, followed by resource scalability (18 per cent) and cutting costs (17 per cent).
However, it also emerged that knowledge is still a barrier to some firms embracing private clouds, with 76 per cent of those questioned saying that their firm does not fully understand the potential of the technology.
Two-thirds of those questioned said they thought their organisation's culture would be the main barrier to implementing the technology.
A recent report by Telecoms Trends International said that cloud computing is to grow in popularity overt the coming years, although take up may be hampered by confusion over the service.
