Companies across the world appear to be embracing
virtual private servers and other
web hosting solutions, according to a new study.
Research by IT intelligence firm Gartner surveyed 951 industry professionals in emerging markets and found 35 per cent of respondents intend to up their virtualisation investment.
In addition, 32 per cent plan to increase their green IT budgets, while seven per cent are planning to invest in cloud computing.
Luis Anavitarte, research vice-president for emerging markets at Gartner, said the findings validate claims that IT growth in new areas is taking place.
He added that the statistics may also "guide planning and resource allocation processes".
Recent research by Business Insights found that virtualisation may boost the energy efficiency of some firms, which may interest those planning to implement a green agenda into their operations.
