Cloud computing and virtualisation to grow in 2010
Date: Thursday 28th January 2010

Cloud computing and virtualisation technologies such as
virtual private servers will see accelerated growth over the course of 2010, it has been claimed.
According to Access Markets International (AMI), they will enjoy "accelerated adoption and mainstreaming" in the coming year due to the cost-saving benefits and operation efficiency they offer firms.
In its predictions for 2010, the firm also suggested that small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) will be loosening their purse strings and increasing their IT budgets.
"SMBs will tentatively transition out of survival mode and focus on opportunities for business expansion. Technology that facilitates this shift will be much more of a priority in the coming year," the firm stated.
Earlier this month, industry analyst Gartner revealed that virtualisation is set to be a top priority for chief information officers in 2010.
A study by Gartner Executive Programs found that cloud computing and Web 2.0 were also likely to be important to firms over the next 12 months.
