Website crashes on day of new fashion label launch
Date: Tuesday 23rd June 2009

Oasis singer Liam Gallagher's new fashion website crashed after thousands of fans logged online to see what he had to offer.
More than 100,000 people jammed the site in an attempt to browse and purchase items such as his trademark parka, hats, scarves and shirts.
Engineers have now managed to fix the fault, but it could highlight the importance of having
reliable web hosting in place when launching a business online.
The label - Pretty Green - told the Mirror.co.uk that it had liaised with the "best technology providers" the UK had to offer, but even the "robust" system could not cope with the traffic surge.
"We carried out extensive research and had advanced superior systems in place to manage over 30 times what you would expect for the launch of a brand like this," a spokesperson for the label continued.
Reliable web hosting could ensure that websites do not suffer downtime.
Duncan Harvey, from GoldenGate Software, wrote on Continuity Central that an unplanned outage can result in damage to a brand and significant losses for a business.
