Software developers cling to cloud computing trend

Programmers are getting increasingly comfortable creating Software-as-a-Service applications for dissemination over the internet, it has been claimed.
According to Business Week, the growth in public clouds means that applications can be deployed on third-party servers and accessed over the internet – doing away with the need for in-house servers and other IT infrastructure.
The news provider claims that the major benefit of such a deployment is reduced operating costs.
Business Week cited a study by Evans Data which found that almost two-thirds of software developers said that at least some of their IT resources would be moved to a public cloud within the next year.
Meanwhile, David Hatter, president of Libertas Technologies, told the news provider: "A lot of [the benefits] really revolve around the total cost of ownership and the relative simplicity."
Recently, in a column for Datamation, Jeffery Kaplan said UK firms should give strong consideration to the benefits of cloud computing.
