Shared hosting 'allows a hands-off approach to IT'

Friday 3rd September 2010

Business owners who require IT support, but have no desire to get involved with network administration, should consider the benefits of shared hosting, it has been claimed.

According to PRwire, this form of web hosting offers significant financial advantages over dedicated servers and even virtual private servers.

Because multiple websites are hosted on a single server, the costs of providing the power needed to support a website are minimised, the news provider said.

"In this form of hosting, the customer has limited control over the functioning of the server because the system administration is shared by many users," PRwire said.

"This can be considered as a benefit for those who do not want to deal with all the complexities and tensions associated with administration."

However, the news provider suggested that businesses with a more hands-on approach to their IT should perhaps consider alternative options.

Headline News recently reported that shared hosting offers sufficient power for the majority of commercial web portals.
