Microsoft hosting most active US sites

Microsoft hosted the most active websites in the US during February, according to Netcraft.
The software company was responsible for almost 7.6 million active sites during the month, compared with Google's 6.2 million and MySpace's 4.5 million.
Furthermore, Netcraft's figures revealed that more than 200 million
web hosting entities were found to run internet websites in February, although it is likely there are more, the report suggested.
Earlier this month, Netcraft's Web Server Survey found that 231.5 million active sites on the web as of the start of April, up six million compared with March.
Sites running on Apache currently dominate the web, followed by Microsoft, qq.com and Google, according to the figures. A number of language-specific servers were also detected, including Ruby application server Mongrel and Zope, which is based on Python.
The total number of active sites on the web registered an increase of more than nine million in March and over 30 million in February.
