Firms offered advice on choosing a web hosting company

Date: Friday 20th March 2009

Advice has been offered to businesses searching for a reliable web hosting provider.

Writing for DomainInformer, Nelson Tan of the Internet Mastery Center urged website owners to ensure the provider in question can offer uptime of at least 99 per cent.

It should also be able to provide a 100 per cent satisfaction guarantee and features such as server monitoring and round-the-clock email support, Mr Tan stated.

In addition, he suggested looking for a web hosting company that its own power generator so that it is well-equipped to cope with power outages.

Web hosts that offer automatic and scheduled data backups and DOS protection should also be top of the list, Mr Tan added.

"Once you've found a host that offers everything above, you are ready to look at other features that you may require, such as an adequate amount of disk space and bandwidth," he said.

According to Pingdom, those looking for reliable web hosting should remember that maintenance is not included in uptime numbers.
