Date: Friday 2nd January 2009

A new survey has revealed that UK consumers are among the most likely to buy goods or services online.
Germany was the nation that shopped most online with 73 per cent of respondents saying they did, followed by the UK (66 per cent) and Japan (64 per cent).
The research, conducted by TNS, asked people across 16 countries about their internet habits.
As well as shopping, using the web to research a product before purchasing it was 63 per cent of respondents' main reason for logging on.
Other top tasks to do online included using a search engine, looking up the news, and using online banking.
TNS said: "Ignoring the impact of the internet on many aspects of our lives is just not an option anymore".
Around a quarter of the respondents asked rated the importance of the internet ten out of ten in their personal lives.
Earlier this month, Campaigner urged businesses to review their
email marketing strategy in order to communicate with their customers effectively to try and increase sales in the new year.
