Managed hosting 'a promising technology'
Date: Friday 3rd April 2009

Managed hosting is one of the most promising technologies that can help businesses of all sizes to rapidly respond to changing requirements, according to a new paper.
The research, undertaken by click2try and Presage Technologies, indicated that while companies are facing increased pressure to raise profits and reduce costs, they also face competition from companies on a global level.
Because of this, the report suggested that many firms are on the lookout for technologies that are more mobile and scalable - increasing the agility of their workforce.
Managed hosting is one of a number of technologies - as well as cloud computing, virtualisation, open-source software and software-as-a-service - which are helping companies stay "ahead of the curve", it claimed.
In particular, managed service providers were said to be beneficial to smaller firms which may not have a designated skilled IT department, creating a more stable and secure system.
A study published by MeriTalk, Red Hat and DLT Solutions earlier this year suggested that the US government could save billions of dollars by adopting a more widespread use of open-source technology.
