December 25th 'is favourite online shopping day'
Date: Monday 12th January 2009

Christmas Day is one of the most popular online shopping days for consumers, a new report has found.
While some were eating Turkey and watching the Queen's speech, the latest results from IMRG show that for many "serious bargain hunting was the order of the day".
IMRG reported that 3.8 million people bought goods on the internet on December 25th 2008, spending a total of £102 million.
This is an average of £26.80 per shopper, compared to £19.09 last year.
Retailers who use a
web hosting provider for their website may have benefited from the increase in sales over this festive period.
Director at eDigitalResearch Chris Russell said consumer confidence in the web had remained "robust" over Christmas.
"We expect to see this continue with the online retail channel at the forefront of aggressive sales activity during 2009."
In other related news, comScore this week released figures that showed the health and fitness sector had achieved the largest increase in online sales this December than any other.
