Companies should "do business on the mobile web"

If companies want to generate sales online then they should "do business on the mobile web", one industry expert has suggested.
A number of potential consumers who can access the internet via a handheld device do not use a PC for the same purpose, explained the chief executive officer for Volantis in an interview with bMighty.
But it is important for businesses that have perhaps set up their site using a web hosting provider to consider how their online information looks and works on a smaller screen, Mark Watson added.
It is also worth noting how people use the mobile web they tend to glance at certain pieces of information rather than spend a long time reading.
Mr Watson suggested that those looking to take advantage of people using the mobile web should keep their own site simple.
"You can implement a stripped-down user interface but if you're a business, you'll want to put some branding on the site."
The content should be useful, he concluded, so stay clear of pages of the company's history and keep to details about the products or services.
