Green Party turns to email marketing for campaign support
Monday 12th April 2010
The Green Party is set to launch a large-scale email marketing campaign to draw support ahead of the upcoming general election, it has been reported.
According to the Telegraph, the party, which is seeking its first MP, will use the channel alongside social media to attract additional voters in key constituencies.
It is promoting an interactive party political broadcast that supporters can email to their family and friends living in key target areas.
Party leader and MEP Caroline Lucas is thought to stand the best chance of election of any Green candidate. She will stand in the Brighton Pavilion constituency.
She commented: "We want to learn the lessons from the Obama campaign, not least when you are a party without large financial resources using social media is a key way to get our message across."
The channel and email marketing can complement doorstep-to-doorstep vote canvassing, Ms Lucas noted.
Last week, marketing industry expert Lawrence Perry commented that the best email marketing campaigns are interesting and engaging to their intended audience.
