Broadband take-up on the increase
Date: Tuesday 24th February 2009
The latest figures from eMarketer suggest that the number of households signing up to broadband in the UK will grow in 2009.
According to the digital marketing research firm, this year more than 17 million homes will subscribe to the various broadband technologies available.
This is a 6.5 per cent increase on the 16.1 million households which used broadband in 2008.
More people using faster internet connections may prove beneficial to firms using email marketing policies as they will be able to advertise to a wider audience.
Indeed, eMarketer indicates that a number of companies have adapted their online marketing strategies to suit a broadband-savvy consumer market.
Zoom features, 360-degree views, product videos and virtual fashion models, as well as email marketing drives, are often used to promote goods and services.
Last month, the research firm also predicted that UK online ad spending would reach £3.58 billion in 2009.
