B&Q in viral marketing campaign
Date: Monday 24th August 2009

B&Q has launched its first ever viral
email marketing campaign in the hope of boosting sales ahead of the upcoming bank holiday weekend.
The DIY retailer hopes to reinforce the association between bank holidays and home improvement and clear some of its older stock.
A spokesperson for B&Q said: "We'll see how it goes and gauge the reaction. There is a lot of clearance going on in store. We are always looking for opportunities to show people what B&Q has to offer."
The company has sent an email promotion which contains DIY vouchers offering them 15 per cent off everything in store until August 25th.
B&Q sent the
email marketing drive on August 20th.
Director of online market research firm Hitwise Robin Goad claimed that B&Q could boost its web traffic by as much as 50 per cent as a result of the marketing drive.
Recently, marketing expert David Hale noted that using opt-in email messages can lift the number of people subscribing to
HTML email newsletters.
