The UK's Legal Deed Service has confirmed that a woman from Manchester has become the first person to change her birth name to a web domain.
Care worker Claire Forshaw, who is now legally known as Princess-Rainbow.com, has revealed she plans to use her new namesake domain name to set up an online business to sell art products.
According to the Independent, the woman was previously put off making the move after her boyfriend told her it would be expensive.
"I knew that if ever I got the chance I would change [my name] to a web domain, to hopefully become the first," she told the newspaper.
"When I realised it actually cost as little as £10 my boyfriend said that Princess-Rainbow.com was ideal for me because I am mad on rainbows."
Recent research published by the Daily Telegraph found that the average price of a domain name now stands at £1,757.
