Study: .com domain names 'most likely to see higher prices'
Date: Tuesday 20th January 2009

New research has suggested that it is only .com domain names that are likely to command the highest prices on the market.
Compiled by strategic advisory and
domain name consultancy firm Hudson Crossing Advisory, the report indicated that even non-.com domain names that include highly popular generic keywords are unlikely to see website owners willing to pay huge sums for them.
Despite this, there are a number of addresses other than the .com domains that could hold some value for buyers and sellers, the company said.
These include .travel, .tv, .jobs and .museum, although there are certain restrictions in place for those wishing to buy a domain name ending with the latter two suffixes, Hudson Crossing Advisory noted.
It said that ".travel is an undeveloped oasis of opportunity" in particular and stated that both .tv and .travel "are gems in the rough that have been overlooked in the marketplace".
The .travel domain first went live in January 2006. The .tv domain is currently managed by VeriSign.
