First registered domain name changes hands
Date: Friday 28th August 2009

The first ever domain name, registered in 1985, has finally changed hands after almost 25 years.
Registered by a former computer company based in Massachusetts, Symbolics.com was registered on March 15th 1985.
Symboics, which went out of business in the late 80s held onto the domain name, and it has now been offloaded for an undisclosed sum.
In 1985, when the internet was still young, just six companies deemed the technology important enough to register a domain name including Symbolics.
The list of web addresses picked up in 1985 includes bbn.com, think.com, mcc.com, dec.com and northrop.com.
The web address was sold to XF.com Investments.
Aron Meystedt, the chief executive officer of XF.com Investments, said: "We are extremely excited to own the Symbolics.com domain name. Since our core business is Internet investments, we really pursued the purchase of the original domain name, Symbolics.com."
Next March, the original domain name will celebrate its 25th birthday.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Rick Latona Auctions announced it would be selling Christian.com on October 27th of this year.
