Cybersquatters 'trying to exploit the system'
Date: Friday 28th November 2008

Cybersquatters are people who seek to exploit the online system, a legal expert has commentated.
Trial attorney Darin M Klemchuk, who specialises in intellectual property, makes his comments as his organisation Cash Klemchuk Powers Taylor expands its domain name recovery practice.
He explains the purpose of a domain name is to serve as an identifier for an online business.
Mr Klemchuk adds: "However, third parties often attempt to profit by exploiting the system and register numerous valuable domain names."
They do this by using the domain name to attract traffic falsely or to try and sell them for a higher price, he continues.
In response the problem of cybersquatting, Mr Klemchuk says his organisation is to launch a blog titled Unfair Competition in Cyberspace next year, which will chart the progress of the domain name recovery service provided.
Earlier this week it emerged that Microsoft is to sue the Florida-based firm Domain Investments over 23 domain names it claims infringe its trademarks.
The addresses at the centre of the dispute include hotmajl.com and Microsoft-games.com.
