Apple in domain name dispute
Date: Thursday 17th September 2009

Apple has filed a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) over a domain name infringing on one of its trademark products.
The iPod and iPhone maker has launched the complaint over the domain name iTunes.com.mx, reports Domain Name Wire.
The .mx is Mexico's country code and the .com.mx is a standard second-level domain name used within the Central American country.
Apple hopes the WIPO will make a decision on the complaint in the next few months.
In 2008, Apple won complaints issued about iTunesLatino.com and iTunesDownload.com following arbitration, with the latter domain name still never being transferred to Apple.
Search engine giant Google recently won a domain name dispute over the web address GoogleWebMArketing.com, which had been registered in May 2008 and held by Absolutee.
The firm approached the National Arbitration Forum, which decided the domain name directly infringed on Google's trademark and the site was used to take advantage of the search engine's reputation.
