Web hosting firms get to grips with IE8

Web hosting companies are changing their strategies slightly to handle the recent release of Internet Explorer 8 (IE8).

This is according to Channel Insider, which reports that providers of managed services and hosted applications are familiarising themselves with IE8 in much the same way that consumers using the browser are.

However, while web hosting companies are currently learning to get to the grips with the new browser, they are expected to be able to provide the same service levels for the product as with their other offerings within a short timeframe, says Stephen Moss of US technology firm NSPI said.

"We're certainly not freaking out and panicking and neither are our customers. Everyone sees the changes coming now and with our help they'll be prepared," he remarked.

The newest release of IE includes a private browsing mode, enhanced security features, visual search suggestions, a Web Slices feature for instant updates from particular sites and Accelerators to speed up the completion of certain tasks.
