Organisations 'stretching infrastructure'
Date: Friday 5th June 2009

Organisations are being continually stretched to get the most out of their infrastructure, it has been claimed.
According to Glyn Owen of Damovo UK, the resources available to businesses with regard to their IT services and dedicated servers are being continually stretched.
Businesses are increasingly putting more applications on to their networks, said Mr Owen, adding that real time applications in particular are now being used. However, at the same time, there is increased pressure on budgets and resources.
More thought needs to be given to the impact of having more applications on networks, he said.
Mr Owen's comments follow research from Damovo which suggests that some 82 per cent of UK organisations are concerned about their network performance.
However, IT directors are not taking a strategic approach to network planning, the organisation claimed, suggesting that an ad-hoc approach to making server and network improvements is instead being taken.
