Managed hosting services to benefit from outsourcing
Date: Wednesday 19th August 2009

IT professionals are increasingly looking to outsource their IT infrastructure using managed hosting or dedicated
web hosting as the global economic downturn takes hold, it has been claimed.
According to new research by business analyst Forrester, companies are turning to hosting solutions because it allows them to keep up with the latest technological advances in the sector in a cost-effective way.
The vice-president and research director at Forrester Ellen Daley said: "While the [economic] environment is making most technology areas suffer, managed services is getting a boost as firms look for more flexible payment models that limit capital expenditure but also can keep them current with technology changes."
Forrester also found that 37 per cent of small businesses had already opted for an outsourcing solution or consolidated their telecommunication services.
Meanwhile, IT professional John Savill recently claimed that outsourcing IT infrastructure and using virtualisation services can actually reduce the burden of disaster recovery procedures.
