Linux dedicated servers 'offer business benefits'
Date: Wednesday 4th November 2009

Linux remains "a major player" in the server market for small and medium-sized businesses, it has been claimed.
According to Steven J Vaughan-Nichols, the firm is a well-established presence in the sector and continues to meet the
dedicated server needs of many customers seeking external IT support.
Writing for Linux Planet, he explained that each of the firm's distributions comes with business server functionality such as email, file, and print serving.
Indeed, Mr Vaughan-Nichols claimed that Linux deserves a larger share of the small business
dedicated server market, which he noted is currently led by Microsoft.
He noted that Linux Ubuntu 9.10 offers "not only a great desktop, but also makes a great server", questioning why more firms are not currently capitalising on its benefits.
Linux is the industry standard operating system for
web hosting and internet services, serving some of the world's largest and most complex websites.
Its dedicated servers can offer power, reliability and value for money to Global Gold customers.
