IT community 'becoming more mobile'
Date: Monday 15th December 2008

Workers in the IT sector are becoming increasingly flexible and mobile, according to new research.
More than two-thirds would be willing to relocate abroad and 71 per cent would move to a different UK city if a job opportunity arose, figures from the IT Job Board show.
This could include people working within
web hosting or
email marketing.
Furthermore, people would be willing to make this move in order to develop their careers, even if the salary was not as competitive, explains managing director Alex Farrell.
The survey also reveals that more than one-third of IT workers think the UK will continue to see the biggest growth in demand for IT professionals, despite the credit crunch.
Results were announced at the IT and Communications Sector Group meeting, where IT recruiters reported stability in the sector's economic outlook.
The REC IT and Communications Demand and Supply in the IT Sector report backs up these findings and demonstrates an increase in the number of ICT workers from Q2 to Q3 this year.
