The government should be doing more to aid software innovation, one industry expert states.
Growth in the UK's software industry over the next couple of years will be marginal, believes Jass Sarai, head of software and IT services at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and action needs to be taken.
"Our software industry is established around innovation and the government needs to continue to do more to help them to do more with their innovation," she comments.
Developments in software could aid those using a
web hosting service or dedicated servers get more out of their IT investments.
Ms Sarai adds that rewarding firms carrying out research and development into software could bolster the industry.
Such benefits could include grants and favourable tax positions, she suggests.
According to a PwC survey of the top 100 software firms in Europe, British companies make up 15 per cent of the list.
Worldwide, the businesses generate revenue of £104.8 million.
