Flexible support 'offered by dedicated servers'

Wednesday 13th January 2010

Dedicated servers can provide flexibility and predictability for companies of all shapes and sizes, one industry commentator has suggested.

TMCNet senior editor Erin Harrison told the website that such investments "can maximize the performance, reliability, and security of the corporate IT spend", freeing capital for investment in other areas of the business.

She commented that hosted servers, which are managed by a third party, can support all types of corporate IT applications.

Not only this, but they can reduce the need for infrastructure resources, Ms Harrison added, according to activities ongoing within the business at the time.

For firms using applications that require a significant and predictable level of computing, storage and network resources, dedicated servers may prove to be an extremely good investment, she stated.

TheHN recently reported that IT buyers should check they have ready access to server specialists when buying from a particular firm.

She noted that some managed hosting providers fall down when it comes to customer service provision once the server has been deployed.
