Dedicated servers 'offer simple pay structures and support'
Friday 13th November 2009
Buying a dedicated server can be "an extremely simple" IT support solution for small businesses, it has been claimed.
According to TheHN, users pay for a server and can use it as little or as much as they like over the course of a month.
This contrasts with the usage-based billing system adopted by cloud models, providing complete ownership of the server, the site explained.
It added: "With a dedicated server, everything is as simple as it gets. Whenever a problem occurs, you can simply pick up the phone and call support.
"Assuming that you're dealing with a responsible company, the problem will be identified and taken care of in a matter of minutes."
TheHN says this extra level of support is of key benefit to businesses, especially where there is a lack of specialist IT expertise.
Last month, the site warned dedicated server users to change their password upon receipt of the technology.
