Dedicated servers 'cost-effective for businesses'
Date: Tuesday 16th June 2009

A
dedicated server from a hosting
server specialist is the most cost-effective option for companies without their own IT department or IT budget, it has been asserted.
Dedicated server packages can complement the operations of a business and can be tailored to the "hands-on approach" the companies wish to take, Ghacks Technology News reported.
While some vendors will allow businesses to use their own HTML authoring program and to upload pages, others will provide the tools required for creating and managing a website.
The resource stated: "Dedicated hosting often means that your business can write and run custom scripts and applications, or just manage the web site and leave the upkeep of the network and hardware to the hosting company."
However, firms with dedicated IT staff and a data centre may want to invest in other types of servers, such as a
virtual private server.
Moving to a
dedicated server could be particularly beneficial for companies, after Sophos has warned that IT teams are often overworked and overstretched and this lack of resources could lead to a failure to control hackers and viruses.
