Dedicated server buyers 'should check customer service provision'

Thursday 31st December 2009

Businesses investing in a dedicated server should ensure they will receive good quality customer support from the web hosting provider, it has been claimed.

According to TheHN, many server specialists fall down when it comes to managing customer issues post-purchase, leaving those with a lack of in-house expertise struggling to make the most of their investment.

The news provider urges buyers to ensure there is a live customer services team available at all times before committing to a purchase, as this may save time and money in the long run.

It stated: "We suggest that you ensure that your web host has a good track record as emails are very convenient in non-emergency matters, while on the other hand if you need to get a work done in a scurry, we suggest that you [consult] a capable person.

"The response times as per industry standard should be a few minutes."

Earlier this month, industry commentator Sean Schofield told Practical Ecommerce that investing in a dedicated server can help small businesses grow and drive revenue.
