Data storage tips for small businesses offered
Date: Wednesday 22nd April 2009
An expert has offered tips on the best way in which to go about storing data for small businesses.
Speaking to the Mirror's Biz Bureau, Lynn Collier of Hitachi Data Systems advised firms to archive vital data in a separate storage device and to ensure that all files are saved in the right format and with the correct descriptions to make data retrieval easier.
She also urged small businesses to back up data in case a natural disaster or theft strikes and to ensure that there are copies of all files available in offsite storage.
"This means that if loss of data occurs at one location, you can still access it elsewhere," Ms Collier commented.
Last year, the Digital Inspiration blog advised readers to ensure they read the terms and conditions of their
web hosting provider before using their webspace for data backup purposes, as there may be policies in place restricting this practice.
