Cloud-based servers 'an ongoing web hosting discussion'
Date: Friday 28th November 2008

An ongoing issue within the
web hosting world is that of cloud-based services, it is claimed.
Liam Eagle, a commentator writing for theWHIR.com, explains there has been a recent movement towards offering more of these services to clients among
web hosting providers.
"This week saw several announcements related to several of the larger dedicated hosts working on cloud-based offerings," he continues.
Also provoking comment this week has been a trend towards developing green data centre technology, the industry expert adds.
Earlier this month, Tim Danton, the editor of PC Pro, suggested businesses should consider cloud hosting.
He recommended it to any company which had "unpredictable needs", explaining that it can help websites perform strongly even during spikes in traffic.
By spreading themselves across a variety of servers, companies can enjoy stable performance, Mr Danton stated.
However, he warned that firms should be careful of cost as cloud hosting can charge based on use, leading to rising costs.
