WordPress.com users 'can enjoy plugins from rival platform Six Apart'
Tuesday 19th May 2009
Six Apart co-founder Anil Dash has announced that the blogging platform will introduce WordPress.com plugins.
Making the announcement at the WordCamp Mid-Atlantic 2009 conference, Mr Dash said WordPress.com users can experience the benefit of services including Blogs.com, TypePad Connect, Six Apart Media and TypePad AntiSpam.
In a video seen on YouTube, Mr Dash said that WordPress Hosting subscribers are regular users of Six Apart's average housing platform and often use multiple blogs.
The community features offered by Six Apart "only get better the more people are connected to them", he stated.
"I couldn't be more excited about bringing these two great communities together," Mr Dash said, adding that the plugin move for WordPress.com users represents the first step towards sharing functionality between bloggers.
Delegates at WordCamp Mid-Atlantic 2009 were surprised by the announcement because WordPress.com and Six Apart have long been thought to be blogging platform rivals.
However, a Lifehacker poll of its readers found that WordPress has been rated as one of the best tools for individuals who are considering setting up an electronic journal.
