WordPress 'is for serious bloggers'
Date: Wednesday 28th January 2009

WordPress is a blogging platform that those "serious" about setting up an online journal are likely to use, according to its founder.
Speaking to USA Today, Matt Mullenweg said his company tries to cater for "powerful users" and counts organisations such as CNN, Fox News, the New York Times, Coca-Cola and General Electric among its customers.
"People might start with LiveJournal or Blogger, but if they get serious, they'll graduate to WordPress," he stated.
The platform is one of the most popular blog services in the world, with
WordPress hosting 12 million blogs seeing more than 200 million readers in December, according to comScore.
Developers at WordPress are currently working on version 2.8 of the software, which looks set to focus on improving features such as widget management, theme browsers and installers and performance upgrades.
The most recent release of WordPress included enhancements to the user interface and the ability to customise the pages used for writing and uploading posts to suit the needs of the blogger.
