Wired.com blogs head to WordPress
Date: Thursday 30th April 2009

Technology news site Wired.com has shifted its 12 blogs to the WordPress platform from TypePad.
The news was announced by Matt Mullenweg, founder of WordPress in a blog post, although one of the Wired.com blogs in question said it had been hinting at the move for a few weeks.
Wired.com's blogs include Autopia, Gadget Lab, GeekDad and Threat Level.
Commenting on the move, Jonathan Bennett of the Beyond The Code blog on ZDNet said that it showed why
WordPress hosting is particularly suitable for larger sites.
"You can install it on just about any
web hosting account, virtual server or your own servers and get exactly the same features," he remarked, adding that WordPress also offers a level of control that cannot be found with other blog platforms.
Mr Mullenweg said in his blog post that he had hoped Wired.com's decision would help to fulfill his prediction that 40 per cent of the Technorati 100 will use
WordPress hosting, although he has been unable to check this as Technorati has changed the list.
