Web hosting efficiency tips from Google
Date: Wednesday 26th August 2009

Google has teamed up with a range of online businesses to offer
web hosting service providers tips on how to get the most out of their equipment.
The internet search giant has teamed up with experts from Amazon, eBay, Green Grid and the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab to share advice from videotaped sessions at Google's Data Centre Efficiency Summit.
Google's video is one of three that have been released from the Data Centre Efficiency Summit, which was held in April of this year.
It runs for approximately two hours and can be found at the firm's Efficient Computing webpage.
Google said: "Sustainability is good for the environment, but it makes good business sense too. Most of our work is focused on saving resources such as electricity and water and, more often than not, we find that these actions lead to reduced operating costs.
"Being "green" is essential to keeping our business competitive," it added.
The company notes that a single Google search creates the equivalent of 2g of CO2.
