Vietnamese government 'now using Joomla'

Date: Monday 8th February 2010

The Joomla content management system has a variety of users all across the globe, it has been reported.

Writing in the Joomla blog, developer Brad Baker noted that as well as being used for business and personal websites in the western world, the programme is also increasingly popular in Asia.

He referred to an ICTNews article, which noted that the government of Vietnam is now making use of Joomla.

It stated: "Joomla has been recognised recently as an open-source product which has high priority in purchasing and using in all government agencies."

The article explained that the system had joined OpenOffice, Thunderbird, Firefox and Unikey on a list of approved open source products in Vietnam.

Christopher Dawson, a member of the Internet Press Guild and a major contributor to technology resource site ZDNet, recently claimed that Joomla can help websites perform more effectively.
