Report: WordPress traffic up 64% in 2008

WordPress experienced a 64 per cent increase in US traffic during 2008, according to the latest report from comScore - potentially highlighting a need for reliable
WordPress hosting.
The research company's Digital Year In Review report showed that this made WordPress the ninth top gaining site in 2008 in terms of unique visitor numbers, seeing more than 24 million visits overall.
Break Media, Glam Media, the Infospace Network and NetShelter Technology saw the biggest gains last year, comScore said.
Other trends outlined in the report included a 21 per cent increase in US queries conducted at the five biggest search engines, Google, Yahoo!, Microsoft, Ask.com and AOL.
Google dominated the market last year, accounting for 90 per cent of total growth within the search sector and seeing almost 85 billion searches overall.
The search engine was also the most popular website in the UK as of December 2008, according to comScore.
