Businesses now have more options than ever before when it comes to open source content management systems (CMS), new research has suggested.
According to the Web CMS Report 2009 from CMS Watch, the addition of new products to a marketplace that already includes a number of strong content management offerings is helping the sector to grow.
"North American customers have always had a solid selection of open source alternatives, such as Plone, DotNetNuke and Joomla, but recently we've seen a substantial expansion of supported offerings," remarked CMS Watch analyst Kas Thomas.
The report also highlighted the fact that more vendors are launching CMS offerings that offer support for .NET.
Joomla is currently the most used open source CMS on the market, its creators claim.
It says that
Joomla hosting is used by a variety of organisations for projects such as corporate websites and intranets, online publications and web retail sites.
