Magento 1.3.0 launched

Magento has announced the latest release of its popular open source e-commerce platform.
Version 1.3.0 of the software resolves various issues from version 1.2.x and also comes with a host of new features.
These include extra customer file upload and date/time/datetime custom option support, as well as a front-end flat catalogue with separate categories and products sections and improved performance.
It has also described all methods in WSDL for SOAP web services to enhance compatibility with .NET, Java and a number of other languages.
Commenting on the new front-end flat catalogue, Yoav Kutner of Magento said: "Flat categories are recommended for any Magento installation for improved performance, whereas the flat products [section] is designed and recommended for catalogues that have over 1,000 SKUs."
Current
Magento hosting users can upgrade to the new version through the Magento Connect Manager.
Magento recently announced the launch of its new Community Advisory Board, which will discuss issues that are relevant to the Magento community and come up with various policies and practices.
