Joomla downloads pass 9m mark
Date: Tuesday 31st March 2009
Joomla has announced that over nine million downloads have been made of its open source content management system.
In a blog post, Ole Bang Ottosen of Joomla noted that it had taken less than four years for the platform to hit this milestone.
"Who could ever, then back in late summer of 2005, have imagined this Joomla software being downloaded more than one million times?" he asked.
Last week also saw Joomla announced the release of version 1.5.10 [Wohmamni] of its platform, a security release that all
Joomla hosting users are urged to upgrade to as soon as possible.
The new release includes 66 bug fixes, as well as one low-level security fix and one moderate-level security fix.
Joomla launches its first stable of release of version 1.5 in January last year, which was downloaded nearly 200,000 times in total.
The Joomla Extensions Directory currently contains about 5,000 applications, with most being native to version 1.5.
