Date: Tuesday 11th August 2009
Open source custom webhosting platform Joomla! is calling on its users to put it forward for entry into an upcoming awards scheme.
The software is eligible for the Best PHP Open Source CMS at the fourth annual Open Source CMS Awards and it can be nominated for the prize until September 11th.
In a posting on its website, Joomla!'s developers have called on subscribers to back it after it enjoyed "a great year".
"There are over 3,000 extensions to Joomla 1.5 in the Joomla Extensions Directory," the developers explained.
"Over 20 Joomla Days happened, and more than 80 Joomla User Groups met around the world. Let's celebrate by nominating Joomla! for Best Open Source CMS."
Joomla! is used by a number of firms for the websites, intranets, online magazines and retail interests.
Major names including MTV, Harvard University and Citibank are among the most well-known users of the open source software.
