Cloud computing 'becoming more widespread'
Date: Friday 28th August 2009

Cloud computing services are becoming more widely adopted than ever before, but there are still a number of concerns surrounding the technology, it has been claimed.
According to new research by IDC, cloud computing is gaining greater acceptance in the business community.
The firm believes that cloud computing is ready to step from the early-adopters market into the mainstream over the course of the next few years.
Will Kohler, a partner in Needham-based investment firm Prism Ventureworks, told Mass Hihg Tech: "Amazon has helped define the market."
But has Amzaon completely cornered the market?
According to Cnet's Dave Rosenberg, "start-ups are going to have to be very agile to outfox Amazon".
He claimed: "Amazon's new offering... puts serious pressure on other cloud providers to offer feature parity."
However, the relatively slow adoption by the consumer means smaller
web hosting and software as a service providers can potentially make inroads into the market as it develops.
