What payment options do I have?
You can pay by PayPal. Please send payment to accounts@globalgold.co.uk. Please use your 7 digit invoice number as the reference. We accept all major cards too.
Do I have to transfer in my domain when doing a forum migration?
No, but it would be beneficial to have it all under one roof.
What do you need from me to do a migration?
We need:
- Your domain
- The domain login
- Your VBAdmin logins
- Domain control panel logins
- Your username and password
Will I need to change my nameservers?
You don't have to but it helps smooth and speed the process if we migrate your forum.
Do I control full content on my forum?
Yes, you control full content, permissions, posts, threads, forums, banners, adverts, users and so on.
What do I need to setup a vBulletin forum?
You need to buy a licence from vbulletin.com. A licence costs £125 including a years software updates. We recommend that you buy the licence direct so that you own the copy. Get your free plugins from vbandvanced.com. The install and set-up is free.
How do I install the software I have purchased from vbulletin.com?
GlobalGold install these for free once you have signed up. All we need is your customer number and password for the licence.
Do you sell vBulletin licences?
We do not sell vBulletin licences but you can buy them at https://www.vbulletin.com/order/
How long does it take to install a vBulletin licence?
It takes approximately half an hour.
Can I talk to some of your existing clients before signing up?

How long does it take and how much does it cost to do a vBulletin forum upgrade?
Approximately an hour and it costs about £15. vB3 to vB4 costs about £30 +VAT.
Which other forums do you host?
We host some of the largest forums in the world including: playfish and talkphotography
Do you offer cPanel or Plesk?
No, we offer Plesk only on VB600 and you have our own custom control panel on VB200 and VB400.

Is it easy to upgrade to the next package?
It is very easy to migrate you to the next level and there is no charge for doing so.
What happens if I exceed my bandwidth?
If you occasionally exceed your limit, we don't mind. If however it is regular you will need to be upgraded. We monitor usage and all stats and logs are available to you.
Will my Google ranking be affected by hosting in the UK?
No, you can use Google Geotargeting to tell Google which country specific version of their search engine to list your site in.
Do you handle backups?
We offer daily offsite backups with vB200 and vB400. Backups for vB600 and vBGold are additional.
Do you oversell your hosting?
No, we make sure we have adequate capacity to handle any peaks in traffic and upgrade our hardware well ahead of demand.
Can I use vB advanced, vB Gallery or another mod/hacks on a vBulletin package?
Yes, you're more than welcome to install any plugins or hacks. We offer a chargeable installation service although we reserve the right to disable a particular plugin should it affect the performance of our servers.
How long does it take to migrate my forum from another ISP?
We aim to do this within 24 hours although we can arrange a particular time at your convenience, including weekends/out of hours.
Can I run scheduled database backups on the server?
Yes, you can schedule your own backups using MySQL Tools/Cron. We would be more than happy to assist setting up a schedule task for you.
Do I need to move my domain to your registrar?
Although it makes it easier to troubleshoot any DNS issues if you migrate your domain to our registrar, this is not a requirement.
Can I run a blog or wiki along side my forum in the same web space?
Yes, you're more than welcome to use the space for packages to go along side your forum.
Will there be any downtime should I upgrade?
Usually we can upgrade you at a flick of a switch. If we do need to move you onto a new server we will organise a convenient time and do the transfer for you.
