What specification of server do you offer?
Our dedicated server solutions are totally customisable. We are happy to discuss your requirements and recommend a specification that meets your needs. We are flexible on all hardware and operating system requirements.
What security is in place to protect the server?
All of our servers are in highly secure data centres with protection against physical access, fire and flood. For data security we have enterprise class firewalls including deep packet inspection, we also have network monitoring processes in place to detect and stop denial of service attacks.
Where will the server be located?
We have two dedicated data centres, one in the Peterborough area and another in the Docklands area of London. Both are excellent facilities with advanced power backup and air conditioning that meet ISO27001:2005 standard.
Would I get administrative access to the server?
Yes, we are happy to provide you with full administrative access to the server. Whether it is via SSH for a Linux server or remote desktop for a Windows server.
Do the servers come with a control panel?
All Linux servers can be implemented with Plesk. We do not recommend a control panel for Windows servers but management via remote desktop.
How do you monitor the server?
We have Nagios for monitoring, this can monitor all the resources on the server. We also make regular trips to the data centres to review the physical state of all of the servers.
Can I upgrade the server after it is implemented?
Absolutely, you can upgrade your server at any time. We always implement servers with plenty of space for future upgrades so you can customise your server to fit your changing needs. The cost will be dependent on the changes you require.
Can I upgrade from a shared hosting account to a dedicated server?
Yes, you can upgrade your package to a dedicated server by contacting the Dedicated server team on 0845 250 8008.
GlobalGold will migrate your data from your shared account to your server for no charge. You may find however, that a VPS or a Xen Cloud hosting package may better suit your needs.
How long will it take to get a server implemented?
We only implement good quality HP Proliant servers for performance and reliability reasons. The lead time for any dedicated server is dependent on the components required and the supply of the components. Typically, a dedicated server takes 1-5 working days to implement.
If I need more IPs can I get them?
As long as you can justify a need for additional IPs, GlobalGold will provide them in accordance with RIPE.
